Not sure where to post this as just having a quick look round after registering. Got the link from hang the dj on CQN.
Looking forward to chatting away about the game with other fans. I'm a big Oakland A's fan. A little disappointed with our capitulation after the All Star break but Billy Beane has been stockpiling well recently and in another season or so we'll be ready to hit back at the Halo's.

Welcome to the board m8. We are in really early stages at the moment. Hopefully it will grow into a good place to discuss all things baseball. Any suggestions for the forum are welcome as were all quite new to this and really rely on the posters making it a success:thumbup:

Cheers.
I take it as it grows there will be more sub-forums? Makes it easier to get to threads quicker. An introduction section would maybe help bring in new people.
Unless I missed it of course. :o
p.s. Any chance we can shift Huston Street for some quality prospects? :p
We nearly got him traded this season but it wasn't to be.

its going to be harder now rmonsta to attract members to the site with the season almost over, it will be a test to get the members in off-season, we can pull it off but

That is defo the plan in the future but we did think it would be better to keep to a few sub forums until we grow. There has not been an introduction section I will discuss it with Kev:thumbup:

We did realise it was a bad time of the year to start the forum but the WS is coming up and also the trades should keep it interesting for time being. We hope we can find new members thru the close season so we can do a fanatasy baseball league from here. We will be putting up prizes for winners:thumbup:

A fantasy baseball league is a wonderful idea. I'd be up for that. Always fancied trying one but didn't pluck up the courage to make a complete mess of myself on an American website.

What about emailing any american sportwear shops in uk and europe, or linking to any major american based baseball sites who will have a lot of european based supporters

Thats defo a good idea. Micky has been trying hard to get a mention on channel 5 baseball show!

yeah I agree, I think a fantasty basesball league would be awesome.
We could always place some gambling advertisements in the betting room. Then we can use any money generated to fund the fantasty league.
We could have an overall winner at the end of the season but we could also do a monthly winner bases on the points from the last month. If there is a lot of interest we could also divide everyone into different leagues of say 10 or 15 members or something.
Also, I was thinking. At the moment we do want to keep the rooms to a minimum until the forum is busier but in the future, do you think a news, interview or match type report would be good. It would be a good place to republish articles about the latest games (with a link to the source of course) and this in turn should generate some discussion :)

As it gets busier I'd imagine individual team forums would be useful, especially for the bigger teams(Yankee's, Red Sox, Cubs) as well as an AL/NL forum.
Maybe a separate forum for off season trades may be a good idea for the up and coming off season?
I've been thinking about posting my thoughts on the A's season, perhaps other members would have their own thoughts on the teams they follow.

mabye just having one on-going thread with general chat so not too many different threads, so as not to confuse new members, who would find it easier to get in the swing of things.
what about getting a shout from the sports reporters show on NASN, they are trying to get into the european market and this forum would help them, prid pro quo

I have already suggested a hot stove forum for rumours and for trades for the coming season!!

Aye NASN is defo an avenue we must look at. Sadly they dont do a daily or weekly show based over here. WOuld be great if they did. Suppose its prob worth emailing them for some info. I will investigate:thumbup:
The pictures thread is also a good thing as these pics will show up on google searches and also on google images. So feel free to add pics!!

I think the less confusing the better. So less forums and longer threads. I agree with splitting up the obvious though like a general discussion room, a hot stove for trade talk...pretty much what we have now.
Has any search engine optimisation been done? Is it indexed with google? I don't know too much about the technical side of SEO, just know what needs done.
Keep up the good work though guys!

I found out about the forums while trying to find other channels with MLB besides my ESPN America. There are a few baseball teams in Ireland and I can probably send an e-mail to a bunch of them and ask them to pass the word on.

So what do you, as a Yankees fan think of the new stadium?
I have to admit they have done an amazing job of it. It really looks stunning but should at the price. I think they have done a lot to capture the spirit of the old stadium. However I fucking hate the fact it has less seats for real fans and more corporate boxes! I also cannot stand the fact we have left the old stadium and it will be torn down. So much history gone. All the magic of that place is gone forever. U look at the guys who graced that field and now it will be destroyed. This should never have been allowed to happen. We could have taken over Shea for a few seasons once u guys were in taxpayers field. In doing that we could have built the new stadium on the existing site!
Got to say ur new stadium is stunning too. Modelling it on Ebbets Field was a great idea. WOt u think of the new parks?
