Reading an book about Yankee Stadium and it claims Babe Ruth used a 52ounze bat to hit that first home run at Yankee Stadium on opening day 1923. Surely that cany be right. I had heard a 40oz which I thot was fucking heavy! I like a 27oz for softball and have a 34oz wooden Jeter edition that feels heavy as fuck.

Been having a look and reports vary from 54 and 52 ounze. Seems he settled into to use a 40oz while guys like Di MAggio and Cobb used a 42oz and Hornsby used a 52oz. Most players these days use between 31 to 35oz. Having played softball now my wooden Jeter bat at 34oz feels so heavy now god only knows wot a 52oz club feels like:eek:
